Jarvis as Action Auction Anchor,
KRMA TV, Channel 6, Denver
March-April, 1993, '94, '95
Radio is my bag. I have never wanted to move over to the very self indulgent medium of TV.
However, there's no denying it's fun to visit the visual side of broadcasting from time to time.
What really made this annual KRMA fundraising event fun was not being on TV; it was being with the
wonderful people who work and volunteer for Denver's award-winning public television station.
Only reason I did not continue hosting the auctions was in 1996 I launched my
Game Show Tour.
The lady who was in charge of us "Anchors" was Bobbi Polaski, one of the most charming and lively gals I
could ever hope to meet. Even now, over twenty years later, I count Bobbi as one of my dearest friends.
I regret I only recorded video from 1993, my first year as an Action Auction Anchor.
As you can see by the photos below, things became even more fun in 1994 and '95!
Anyway, here I am hosting the auction in my snappy tuxedo in April, 1993.
Bobbi Polaski looks on as I read an item description during "Old West Week" at KRMA's Action Auction.

This is the hard part of being on camera - not being distracted by so much activity going on all around!
April 24, 1993
Yeah, I know - I can't help being a flirt. That's Bobbi (who was technically my boss) in the lovely lavender
outfit. The gal on my left knee is Kim, who was the "Scribe" for our table.
April 24, 1993
Hey, Mom - I'm on TV! This is one of the studio monitors showing what folks were seeing at home.
April 24, 1993
What the heck is that thing on the table? We auctioned all kinds of stuff, but almost every item found a buyer!
Bobbi reminds me who's boss - with my own fake gun! I just adore the spunk this lady has.
April 24, 1993
I showed Bobbi that I got spunk, too! She blushed for half an hour after this photo was taken.
Thankfully, Bobbi's husband was a good sport about how I goofed off with her.

Here I am on another night of "Old West Week" at the KRMA Channel 6 Action Auction.
KRMA is one of the best rated and most successful public TV stations in the USA,
as you can see by this very large, well equipped studio.

Many Denver area clothiers donated beautiful coats, dresses and other fashion wear for the auction.
And many Denver area beautiful girls volunteered to model the clothes. Nice, huh?
April 26,1993
I described outfits while gorgeous girls modeled them. Yep, tough job, but someone has to do it.

Now we jump ahead to 1994, when the theme for a few nights was "Born To Be Wild."
This is funny: Some ladies watching at home thought my "Bad" look was indecent,
and they called the station to complain. After that I wore a regular shirt over the black tank-top.
April 28, 1994
It was difficult to read the item descriptions with those dark glasses on,
but I had to wear them to keep up the look, ya' know?
April 28, 1993
This hot "biker chick" was actually an elementary school teacher!
But as a volunteer for the KRMA Action Auction, she definitely rocked her costume for
the "Born To Be Wild" theme.

-
To close out the night, cameras panned around the room while we hosts and volunteers danced to 60s tunes.
It's easy to see why this event was so fun.
April 28, 1994
Oh, yeah - this "bad boy" knows how to dance!
